Holistic Civil Ceremonies By Sue Anne
While a celebrant-led ceremony is usually secular, you are not limited to what can or cannot be included in your ceremony. When it comes to tailoring your perfect ceremony, be it a happy life event or the sad task of saying farewell to your loved one, you have the freedom to ask for the ceremony that's most fitting and meaningful for You.
It can be as religious, spiritual, themed, formal, chilled and relaxed as you wish. A Civil Celebrant Ceremony is a way to add your unique personal style, values and choices to your ceremony, which can be held in any location, involving as many or as few guests as you'd like. Please feel free to email, text or call me to discuss and arrange your specific holistic civil ceremony. Please note: You may need to ask permission to hold a ceremony in certain public outdoor venues/areas. |
Types of Ceremonies Catered For
Funeral Ceremonies
Because a civil holistic funeral is not based on any one faith or religion, the ceremony can take any format you would like. Funerals are important to us for many reasons, they give us time and space to honour the life of our loved One, to celebrate them, their life, their achievements, the gift they were to our lives, while also giving those left behind a space to honour their grief, their immense sorrow, their feeling of loss, to say goodbye in a way that is fitting, respectful, meaningful, and significant. Please contact me to arrange your Holistic Funeral Ceremony.

Memorials
Civil memorial ceremonies are similar to a funeral with a few differences. The main one being the ceremony to remember and pay homage to the life of your loved one generally takes place many days, weeks, or months after their death when family and friends can gather. In 2020/21 families are choosing to hold a memorial service as they could not travel or attend due to Covid restrictions. Please contact me to arrange and plan your loved one’s memorial ceremony.

Anniversaries
There can be two elements to an anniversary ceremony to remember. One is to stop and hold space with family and friends as we remember the day our loved one died. The second element is to hold a special holistic ceremony to remember our loved one on their birthday or other day of significance. During these ceremonies we recall them with love in our hearts through stories and memories, paying homage to the gift they were in our lives while also honouring our sadness. Please contact me to arrange and write your civil celebrant led anniversary ceremony.

Living Ceremony
Some people receive the news their time is limited, and they often have a wish to organise a living ceremony which happens at a date and time of their choosing, in the presence of much loved, treasured and special to your heart, family and friends who gather to Celebrate YOU, your life, love, passions and joys, while also giving you a place to acknowledge the gift those present have been in your life. This is a very precious and often emotional ceremony. Please contact me to support you as together we arrange your living ceremony.

Naming Ceremony
A beautiful alternative ceremony to a religious christening is a naming ceremony during which the focus is very much on your child, your hopes, and dreams for them and of course to celebrate their birth and bestow a name of personal meaning on your baby. Of course, you can include traditional, religious, spiritual aspects should you wish. Please contact me to discuss and arrange your civil naming ceremony

Transgender Renaming
A transgender renaming celebration is truly memorable and personal ceremony where those important in your life gather to celebrate the changing of your name, expressing who you are is one of the most precious and meaningful experiences, it can be an acknowledgment of who you were and a total celebration of who you Are. Please contact me to arrange and plan your Personal Renaming Ceremony.

Adoption Ceremony
Adoption ceremonies are truly precious often emotion filled celebrations which can be held for many reasons; the arrival of your adopted child to your family, the child adopting the parents, or where families come together through marriage and the stepparents make a promise to love and care for their stepchildren, in some cases adopting them. The ceremony can take any format that is fitting for you to celebrate this very precious person and day. Please contact me to craft and write your family Adoption Celebration Ceremony.

Vow Renewal Ceremony
Couples choose to hold a vow renewal ceremony, for many reasons, a significant anniversary, a re-discovery of your love for each other, yet the reason I hear most often is ‘because we want to vow again our love for each other with those closest to us’. Whatever the reason, it is your reason, and you want to mark this with a ceremony. Please contact me to discuss and plan your Civil Vow Renewal Ceremony.
